This Week in Citizen-Times History (June 19, 2025)

The June 17, 2010 edition of The Citizen-Times showcased that the band HuDost, based out of Montreal, Canada and New York City, performed in the Arts on Main concert series on the prior Saturday.

The band, consisting of singer Moksha Summer and guitarist Jemal Wade Hines, worked with Grammy-winning producer Malcom Burn, and they brought their “unique multi-national sound” to the venue, as the first of a seven concert series that summer.

Additionally, it was announced that the Allen County-Scottsville High School softball team had placed third in the KHSAA State Softball tournament on the prior Friday and Saturday in Owensboro, marking the fifth time in the past 11 years that AC-S has been among the top six teams at the tournament.

Members included Morghan Prock, Brooke Stovall, Raissa Stovall, Caley Melton, Macey Cornwell, Kinsey Cook, Allison Pedigo, Amanda Wood, Kelsey Pardue, Sandy Young, Emily Doss, Allison Murley, Ali Skaggs, Taylor Borders, and Catie Yates, along with Head Coach Rick Roberts, along with assistant coaches Kim Borders, Robert Bunton, and Mike Marr.

The City Council announced that during the 2010 Kentucky State Assembly, Wilson Stone, the former representative of the 22nd District, was able to secure a $300,000 grant to fund a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet scoping study with the intent to construct a bypass to relieve large commercial vehicle traffic through the East End and downtown areas.

The Citizen-Times, consolidated of The Citizen (1908) and Allen County Times (1890) on Oct. 10, 1918, has proudly served Scottsville and Allen County for 135 years.
