This Week in Citizen-Times History (October 23, 2025)
The October 22, 2015 edition of The Citizen-Times shared that the Scottsville Fire Department conducted fire safety demonstrations to students from Allen County Intermediate Center in observance of National Fire Prevention Week.
The demonstration shown on the front page showed what to do in the event of a cooking fire, or grease fire, teaching that they should not put water on grease fire, but instead should use a fire extinguisher, or put the top back on the pan to smother the flames.
Additionally, the Allen County Cattlemen were recognized for their history of volunteering to the community, having started in the 1970s.
Rotarian Richard Wheaton noted that since 1999 alone, the Cattlemen have cooked up an estimated amount of 225,000 steaks, through all sorts of weather, raising nearly $1.3 million for several charitable causes.
Such causes include the Rotary scholarship, along with several more scholarships, local athletic programs, Up All Night, and several more.
It was announced that a new Tractor Supply Company store would start construction on a new location in Scottsville, being positioned at 1138 Old Gallatin Road, formerly Pamida, employing an estimated 15 full and part-time members, being approximately 34,959 square feet.
Ideal Construction started work on the project on Monday, October 19 that year, with a completion date being tentatively set for early January 2016.
It was also shared that second-grader Tony Robledo showed off his pumpkin patch selection during the Primary Center/Intermediate Center Parent-Teacher Organization’s 2015 Fall Festival, with several attractions, such as a hayride, being able to pick out a pumpkin to take home, several games, a Haunted Woods, and much more, serving as a PTO fundraiser.
Skeleton’s Lair Scream Park announced that on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 that year, Hollywood stuntman Tom Morga would be at the park, being well-known for his stunt work portraying Michael Myers in Halloween 4, Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Part 5, and Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, having begun his acting career in the Star Trek franchise.
The Citizen-Times, consolidated of The Citizen (1908) and Allen County Times (1890) on Oct. 10, 1918, has proudly served Scottsville and Allen County for 135 years.
