The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriots overcame a slow start to defeat the Clinton County Lady Bulldogs 62-41 on Thursday at Patriot Gym. With the win, AC-S reached the 20-win mark for the first time since 2019 and the 21st season overall.

The outcome required the Lady Patriots to overcome a first half in which the team put 19 points in the books. AC-S missed 16 of their first 23 shots—a stat that allowed Clinton County to be within one possession at the break. However, the hosts soon broke open the 19-16 game.

Freshman guard Bailey Gaines spent several minutes on the court against Clinton County. Gaines played over four minutes to help AC-S capture their 20th win of the season.

As with the flip of a light switch, the Lady Patriots came to life in the third. Avery Morris, Kyra Marr and Debora Patrick picked up their play, helping AC-S go on a 32-8 run in the third period. By the time the Lady Bulldogs mounted a 17-11 fourth frame, the outcome had been settled.

Morris led the way with an usual night—29 points, just two points off her season average of just over 27 a game. Patrick added a 12-point and 12-rebound game. The double-double was her 10th of the season and the 20th of her career. Marr added 11 points—nine of which came on baskets from beyond the three-point line.

For the second half, AC-S was 16 of 29 shooting the ball (55.2 percent). The Lady Patriots finished with six three-point baskets from Marr and Morris combined. Clinton County (7-20) was 15 of 49 shooting the ball and only five of 14 at the foul line. AC-S was 10-12 at the foul stripe.

Next up for the Lady Patriots is the District 15 tournament. AC-S played Warren East (11-15) last Monday (beyond deadline time for the newspaper). If the team wins, they will meet the winner of Barren County (27-2) and Glasgow (8-21) at 6 p.m. Thursday for the District championship. A Monday win also assures a trip to the Region 4 tournament Pairings are not finalized until after the four District tournaments are complete. However, what is known is that AC-S would play Sunday afternoon or Monday evening at Western Kentucky University.

Lady Patriot Debora Patrick scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win over Clinton County. The numbers were her 20th double-double of her four-year career at AC-S.
