Top Five Finishes for AC-S Swimmers at WCST Meet

The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot swim team placed fourth in a field of 10 schools and the Lady Patriot swim team was fifth in the field Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Warren County Swim Team (WCST) Holiday Invitational in Bowling Green.
In individual events for the Patriots, Ryan Wolfe swam the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:09.35 to place seventh. Wolfe’s time was just over two seconds slower than his seed time. The field included 16 swimmers. Kash Taylor was fourth in the 50y free following a time of 25.78, a second slower than his seed time. Alex Stamps swam the event in 26.73v to place seventh in the 29-swimmer field.
Houston Porter was fourth in the 100y free. Porter dropped half a second in the event finishing in 53.30. Taylor placed sixth with a time of 56.30 and Stamps was ninth (58,42). The event included 28 swimmers. Owen Powell competed in the 500y free and earned a fifth place in the time of 5:565.90. Porter placed third in the 100y backstroke (1:01.2)–a four second improvement in his seed time. Wolfe was eighth (1:08.58) and Powell was ninth (1:09.55).

The AC-S 200y free relay team of Taylor, Stamps, Wolfe and Porter covered the distance in a time of 1:42.46. The time was solid enough to take second place, about five seconds off the pace of the winning team from Bowling Green. The same swimmers were third in the 400y free relay.
For the ladies, Jayden Harmon took first place in the 100y freestyle following a time of 1:02.28. Her time was a second faster than second place. Sarah Shain placed seventh in the 23-swimmer contest with a time of 1:06.35.
Harmon was second in the 50y free. Her time of 28.58 was within a second of her seed time and less than a second off the event champion’s time. Lily Bullington was 15th with a time of 38.94 and Micah Mooney had a time of 42.40. Emma R. Brown placed third in the 100y butterfly (1:16.07) and Bullington was sixth (1:40.07).

Harmon took first place in the 100y freestyle following a time of 1:02.28. Her time was a second faster than second place. Shain placed seventh in the 23-swimmer contest with a time of 1:06.35. Brown earned a second place finish in the 100y backstroke event. Brown dropped a half of a second to post a time of 1:10.87. In the 100y breaststroke, Shain was fifth in the time of 1:23.58.
Swimmers Brown, Shain, Harmon and Bullington posted a time of 2:20.96 to place fourth in the 200y medley relay.
AC-S is scheduled to conclude their pre-Christmas slate of meets–and the first half of the season–with a meet Thursday at Monroe County. The meet will be held at the Monroe County Health and Wellness Center on the campus of the Monroe County Middle School and High School.
