Allen County-Scottsville escaped the Swamp on February 24 with a 57-54 win over the Greenwood Lady Gators–a win that lifted AC-S to the 15-win mark headed into the final week of the regular season. At the end of the night, free throws for the entire game made the difference.
AC-S made 16 of 19 foul shots at the line compared to Greenwood’s five of eight. The stat helped the Lady Patriots to the win despite poor shooting from the floor. The Lady Patriots were 19 of 55 from the floor. AC-S was also a dismal three of 23 from three-point range. Greenwood had more field goals in the game–going 21 of 62 including seven three-pointers. AC-S (15-11) travels to South Warren (13-13) Tuesday. The team is scheduled to host Clinton County (10-18) Thursday but the upcoming forecast of snow makes Thursday’s game questionable. The Lady Patriots face Warren East Monday night at 7:30 in District 15 tournament play. The winner moves on while the loser will close out their season.
