The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot softball team could not get in focus in a 6-2 loss to the Warren East Lady Raiders in the opening round of the District 15 tournament on May 19.

AC-S’s Maddie Gray takes a cut at a ball last week in the Lady Patriots’ District game with Warren East. Gray blasted a solo home run in the game, a game won by Warren East 6-2.

The Lady Raiders (23-11) opened with a run in the first inning before pushing a pair of scores across the plate in the third. Two innings later, East added a run to open a 4-0 lead. An additional two runs in the top of the seventh gave the Lady Raiders a 6-0 lead.

AC-S struggled to hit the ball all night. The Lady patriots finished with seven hits–three of which came in the bottom of the seventh. Maddie Gray’s 10th home run of the season led off the seventh. Brooklyn Oliver doubled and came around to score on a single by Shiloh Knievel. The rally ended moments later on a ground out. Ally Anderson and Jacie Rice led the way with two singles.

The setback ended the season for AC-S–a sensational season. The Lady Patriots finished as winners in 26 of their 31 games. Highlights included a 15-game winning streak and a runner-up finish in the 2A sectionals.
