Allen County-Scottsville’s football team dropped their fifth game of the season last Friday night–falling 42-7 to 4A top-10 ranked Logan County.
The Patriots battered tooth-and-nail with the Cougars for the first 12 minutes. Both teams failed to score in the first quarter resulting in an even contest until the early minutes in the second. An AC-S fumble was recovered by Logan County. Moments later, the Cougars scored on a three-yard run to grab a 7-0 lead. Just over three minutes later, the Cougars added a second score to build a 14-0 lead.

The final score of the first half started with the Cougars stopping an AC-S drive while the Patriots were deep in their own territory. After a punt in the final minutes, Logan County took advantage of the short field. With 21 seconds left in the half, a third Cougar score and extra point gave the visitors a 21-0 at halftime.
Logan County needed less than four minutes to put score number four on the board. Their touchdown at the 8:29 mark was followed by another seven points by the 6:03 mark of the final frame. AC-S’s lone score came in the fourth quarter on a recovered fumble and score by junior Bowen Monroe.

The final stats contained the story for the Patriots. Again, AC-S’s inability to generate a consistent offense was a difference maker. The Patriots positive yards included 33 yards on the combined carries of Brayden Holland, Ay’Den Grainger, and Jeffrey Garcia. In the air, Josh Williams was two of six for five yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Logan County picked apart the AC-S secondary. The Cougars were 21-31 throwing the football for 285 yards. Logan also rushed the pigskin 29 times for 33 yards.

Edy Chavez led the Patriot defense with 9.5 tackles. Cameron Ballard, Ace Moore, and Eli McCoy also recorded four or more stops in the game based on preliminary stat numbers.
AC-S (0-5,0-1) faces their toughest challenge of the season this week. The Patriots take the three-hour trip to Paducah to face the Tilghman Blue Tornado–the defending 4A state champions. Tilghman stands 4-1 on the season and comes into the match-up 1-0 in District play. Last Friday, Paducah defeated Franklin-Simpson 35-14.
