A two run seventh inning gave the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots a 2-1 walk-off win over the Glasgow Scotties on April 22 at Patriot Ballpark. The electrifying victory avenged an 11-2 setback to Glasgow on Monday, April 21. After the back-to-back games–the format for District 15 in-season games–AC-S stands 1-1 in district play with upcoming district games against Barren County.

Tuesday’s rally started with a one-out single by Wyatt Todd. A passed ball moved Todd to second and moments later, Todd raced to third on a second passed ball. Pinch-hitter Spencer Calvert walked to put runners at the corners. The Patriots next batter, Dusty Hayes, ripped a single to left field to plate Todd and tie the game at one. Colton Sullivan drew a walk to load the bases. Noah Towe stepped to the box and grounded to the Glasgow shortstop. The shortstop forced Sullivan at second but the Scotties could not complete the double play. As Towe safely crossed first, Calvert scored the winning run–a score that led to a jubilant celebration by AC-S’s players and coaches.

The come-from-behind win capped a quick-played struggle between the rivals. The Scotties lone run came in the fourth after a double, a walk, and a hit batter. Glasgow finished with six hits off Patriot starter Eli Stamper. The senior hurler faced 29 Scotties, threw 94 pitches, of which 65 were strikes. Stamper struck out five Glasgow batters. Offensively, AC-S recorded six hits. Towe’s two hits led the way.

Monday, AC-S fell behind 5-0 after the first and could not recover. Glasgow (7-12, 1-1) added a run in the second, two in the fourth, and three in the six. The Scotties finished with 12 hits off the arms of Patriot pitchers Randy Stebbins and Jay Disman. The day’s offensive highlights for AC-S included doubles by Stamper, Disman, and Ty Wilson. Disman also tripled in the game. AC-S had eight total hits.

AC-S (6-13, 1-1) is slated to travel to Westmoreland on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest. Monday, the Patriots travel to Barren County (12-7, 2-0) and host the Trojans on Tuesday.
