AC-S Defeats Barren County for District Win

Kaitlyn Duncan’s 16 kills, 31 assists by Georgie Tabor, and 19 digs from Claire Clay helped the Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriots down the Barren County Trojanettes 3-1 in District 15 action on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

AC-S pulled away for a 25-20 first set win behind the strong net play of Duncan. In the second, the Lady Patriots took the set in similar fashion, 25-22. Barren County turned the tables with a 25-21 win. However, AC-S regrouped and cruised to a 25-13 fourth set win.

Duncan’s strong night also included five service aces and four digs during her time on the back line. Teammate Faith Schaberg tallied nine kills with Nellie Saylors and Tabor added seven kills each. Junior Addison Ramsey notched five service aces in the four set contest. Tabor also gathered eight digs.

Through the team’s first seven matches, Duncan has amassed 66 kills, 27 digs and 11 aces. Schaberg has 29 kills with Saylors (23), Tabor (22), and Lily Cook (21) also above the 20-kill mark–an example of the team’s strong front line attack. Tabor leads the team in assists with 127, a 7.5 average per match. Clay is the leader in digs with 63 while Danica Harmon holds the aces lead with 21, two more than Ramsey’s 19.

Ann Ashley Atkinson who tallied seven kills, five total blocks, five digs, four aces and three assists led Barren County. Savannah Murrell added 18 assists, 10 digs and four aces for the Trojanettes (5-5, 0-1).

AC-S (6-1, 1-0) travels to Metcalfe County (5-3) on Thursday. The team goes northwestward Friday and Saturday for the Apollo Summer Slam in Owensboro. The Lady Patriots face Ohio County (0-3) and Thomas Nelson (1-2) Friday evening before a final pool match Saturday against Evansville Christian. Bracket play starts afterwards. Tuesday, September 2, AC-S faces Warren East (3-1, 1-0) in District play at East.
