Richard Lorin Tooley (1971 – 2024)

Richard Lorin Tooley, 53, of Christiana, Tenn., passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2024 in Trion, Ga. The Scottsville, Ky., native held the title of Master Sergeant Richard L. Tooley USMC Retired AKA “Monster.”
After a successful high school football career with Allen County High School, Richard proudly joined the United States Marine Corps in June 1990 and served until retirement March 2011.
He was a member of Vine Church of Christ in Lebanon, Tenn. Richard loved God, his family, his Marine Corps brothers/family, trucking, Camaros and was most known for his phrase “Good Googa Mooga!”
He is survived by his wife: Susan Comer Tooley, Christiana, Tenn.; his parents: Roger and Rebecca Bridges Tooley, Scottsville; six sons: Gemini Tooley, Richmond, Va.; Tyberius Tooley, San Antonio, Texas; Josiah Tooley, Pensicola, Fla.; Jackie George Jr., Lexington, Ky. and Taidje Shirley and Zayden Shirley, both of Christiana; three brothers: Robert Tooley and Tyrus Potrafke, all of Scottsville and Rondel Tooley, Yakima, Wash.; one sister, Carla Tooley, Scottsville; two grandchildren: Kaidynce George and Kaiya George and several nieces, a nephew and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terrell Tooley.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Ward officiating and burial at the Tooley Family Property, 1200 Fall Creek Road, Lebanon, Tenn., with Marine military honors.
