Leroy Lawrence Jansen (1940 – 2025)

Leroy Lawrence Jansen, 84, of Scottsville, Ky., passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, Ky.

The Trenton, Ill., native began working at General Motors in St. Louis, Mo., in 1964 and retired from the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green in 1991.  He owned and operated Lee’s Custom Butchering from 1991-1999 and continued working in the meat departments of H.G. Hills and Sam’s Club until 2016.

Leroy was a faithful Catholic and member of Christ the King Catholic Church where he served as usher and greeter, member of the Knights of Columbus and United Auto Workers, an avid gardener and devoted St. Louis Cardinal fan.  He was a person who would make friends wherever he went and never knew a stranger and was a loving person who loved his family dearly.  He was a son of the late Harry Jansen and Sylvera Lindner Jansen.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years,  Lois Jean Jansen, Scottsville; one daughter, Krista Jansen Soelke (Robert), Bowling Green; one son,  Bruce Albert Jansen (Sandy Keen), Scottsville; four grandchildren:  Alexis Nicole Jansen (Stephen Payne Spears), Columbia, Ky.; Jack William Soelke, Ava James Soelke and Mattie Jansen Soelke, all of Bowling Green; one great granddaughter:  Emryn Leigh Spears, Columbia, Ky.

He was preceded in death by a son,  Brian Jansen.

Funeral mass was 2 p.m. Friday at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father Tom Buckman officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens.
