Janice Hurt Pennington (1940 – 2025)

Janice Hurt Pennington, 84, of Scottsville, Ky., passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Lakeland Regional Hospital in Lakeland, Fla. The Edmonton, Ky., native was a retired employee of Sumitomo and member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a daughter of the late Russell Raymond Hurt and Mae Pauline Tabor Hurt and wife of the late Floyd Griffin Pennington.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Coy and husband, Harry, Lakeland; one step son, Read Pennington and wife, Vickie, Florida; one granddaughter: Amanda Anderson; one great granddaughter: Lindsey Edmonson and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Guy Anderson Jr.; five brothers: Raymond, Harvey, Wendell, Ray and Perry Hurt; three sisters: Catherine Dowell, Lovie Broady and Faye Howard.

There will be no visitation or service. Cremation was chosen. Goad Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
