Bobbie J. Hooten (1942 – 2026)

Bobbie J. Hooten, age 84, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026 at the Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

He was born in Scottsville, Ky., on February 3, 1942.  Bobbie was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, an Army Veteran and retired from public work after 55 years.  He was a farmer and worked in construction.

Bobbie loved to farm, fish, garden, watch westerns and run the sawmill.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Zoland Ray Hooten and Mildred Lorene Jones Thompson; sisters: Beatrice Bibby and Betty Allen; brother, Paul Hooten.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen Clark Hooten; children: Marnita “Marty” Brown, Marisa Smith (Lee) and Bobbie Hooten Jr. (Regina) all of Morgantown; grandchildren: Nikki Colter, Elizabeth and Benjamin Brown, Case and Kaylin Hooten all of Morgantown; step-grandchildren: Ryan, Jessica and Matthew; great- grandchildren: Shane and Esthline Maxfield; four step great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. T.J. Howard officiating.

Burial followed in the Peay Cemetery where Military Honors were presented by the Ohio County AmVets.  Visitation was at Smith Funeral Home Saturday, Feb. 7, 4 p.m. and until 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 8-10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
