Dixie Ruth Carter Woodward (1932 – 2026)

Dixie Ruth Carter Woodward, 93, of Scottsville, Ky., passed away Friday, Jan. 2, 2026 at Hospice House in Bowling Green, Ky.

She was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. and a long time resident of Scottsville.  Dixie was a homemaker, former bookkeeper for Newman Sunoco and Bryant Lumber Company, a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday school teacher and was involved in Bible school and the Ladies Bible Study group. She was a member of the DAR since 1997, where she served as corresponding secretary and historian, and the Allen County Historical Society.

She was a daughter of the late Willie Barton Carter and Arphie Prudence McCrary Carter and wife of the late Chester Wren Woodward.

She is survived by two daughters: Martha Woodward Fowler and husband, Jeff and Jenny Woodward Bush and husband, James, all of Franklin, Ky.; one sister, Melba Perkins and husband, Richard, Scottsville; three grandchildren: Wesley Darron Jones (Robertha); Hannah Ruth Coffee (Trent) and Emily Marie Cowan (Troy); four great grandchildren: Carter Cowan, Blake Coffee, Liam Jones and Vincent Jones; two step great grandchildren: Taylor Gooch (Cameron) and Raegan Coffee; one step great great grandchild, Lorali Gooch and host of loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Wayne Woodward and one brother, Roger Carter (Arthema).

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Patterson officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery.
